The Kuwait Charity Forum organized the “Kuwait Humanitarian Action Initiative” event on Saturday, November 24, 2018. The first event was “Governance for the Management of Humanitarian Work” in the presence of a select group of experts, specialists and workers in the humanitarian charitable issue. The Secretary-General of the Union, Mr. Salah Ahmed Al-Jarallah in this initiative, in addition to the Executive Director, Mr. Fadi Iskandarani, a trainer in financial resources and administrative governance. Iskandarani’s intervention was made through a video call, in which he talked about governance and its application in charitable organizations.

During which he indicated that a number of institutions in Western and Middle Eastern countries were neglected due to their neglect of governance and lack of interest in it, especially in the field of accounting, and their lack of commitment to transparency in receiving remittances from banks, especially since these institutions did not previously suffer from a scarcity of their financial resources, but rather failed in their first exam in the lack of Compliance with local laws.

During his speech, he stressed that governance requires that we know who are the members of the board of directors who represent the institution with which it will enter into a partnership, away from political affairs.

He concluded his speech with several recommendations, including the need to know the elements of good governance, the principles on which it is based, the main factors and conditions for their application, and the belief that the absence of governance is the cause of many problems in humanitarian institutions.
