At the initiative and generous invitation of His Excellency the Lebanese Consul General in Istanbul, Mr. Mounir Anouti, the Orphan Care Union participated in the breakfast that was held by the Consulate, in the presence of Mr. Ismail Gul Tekin, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, a number of Their Excellencies the Consuls General in Istanbul and a group of members of the Lebanese community, on Thursday, 31 May 2018.

 

With a generous gesture from his happiness, he initiated a proposal to present an overview of the humanitarian work that is being held everywhere to help orphans, through a speech presented by the Union on behalf of its CEO, Fadi Iskandarani, and an exhibition of drawings presenting the reality of orphans “Childhood without Colors” and “Childhood with Smiles”.

The program began with the reception of the guests by the Lebanese Consul, His Excellency Mounir Anouti and his wife, then they were invited to the hall, waiting for the Maghrib call to prayer for breakfast.

After the Maghrib call to prayer, His Excellency began the Iftar and welcomed, during a brief speech, the attendees, headed by Mr. Gul Tekin, who opened it by expressing his thanks for their response to the invitation. He spoke about the spirituality of the month of Ramadan and its atmosphere in Lebanon and about the family bonding that surrounds the holy month. He referred to the memory of the day of the orphan in the Islamic world which coincides The 15th of Ramadan every year, and his desire for this breakfast to have a humanitarian aspect and shed light on orphans. The best person to talk about this subject is the Orphans Care Union.

 

In turn, Iskandarani spoke during his speech, addressing the audience, “It is my pleasure to be here among you and to be able to present this overview of the work carried out by charitable organizations around the world in order to alleviate the suffering of those afflicted by wars or natural disasters.”

He also pointed out that “charitable organizations aim to help the needy without any bias and for organizations to be highly efficient by following the standards of good governance and to be able to do so, they must follow the highest levels of transparency and openness, and they also need to build a relationship with stakeholders from donors, beneficiaries and governments.” .


At the end of his speech, he invited the audience to participate in any of the aid convoys or field visits to see for themselves where and how the aid (money) is spent.

“My message to you is, we ask you to help us raise awareness among communities…

My message to you, allow us to strengthen the links between governments and NGOs working on the ground….

My message to you, allow us to build bridges between the actors on the ground and the decision makers…”

He wished them a good breakfast and thanked them for listening.

The program of the event continued with artistic performances and religious invocations presented by the artist Amer Hammami

In the end, the guests were bid farewell and handed over a gift presented by the Lebanese Consulate in the name of His Excellency the Consul General, in addition to the Union's publications.
