With these words, the activities of the Scientific Conference for Orphans Care in its first edition were concluded under the slogan “Previous Experiences and Prospects for Development,” which took place over two days, 4-5 November 2020, with the attendance of 1,453 participants from 78 countries around the world, organized by the Union of Orphans Care and in partnership with many humanitarian organizations and institutions The Academy is in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and America.

During their speeches, the speakers emphasized the need to work more to meet the needs of orphans, alleviate their suffering and empower their families. How did the idea of ​​the conference start?

Orphans Care Union It brought together experiences and experiences represented by attendees, speakers and partners with a cultural heritage rich in ideas and diversity, which formed a fertile environment for creativity and innovation and helped achieve our common goal.

Did the conference cover most of the topics that orphans need?

We tried hard to cover most of the general topics needed by the orphan care sector. The topics were divided into 12 diverse sessions that dealt with the following themes: (The reality of the orphan care system, its development and its ability to withstand in light of successive challenges, orphans’ health, orphans’ education, orphan care priorities, children unknown Lineage, institutional care, empowerment, the concept of sponsorship, orphans in conflict areas, ways to invest religious capital to protect orphaned children in conflict areas, violence against orphans, governance and development of organizations working with orphans, the future of orphans care: what next?), reviewed through which Researchers and participated in many of the experiences that were implemented in their countries in the hope that the exchange of benefit between organizations, whether locally or at the international level.

We are certain that the problems faced by the orphan care sector are great and their events are accelerating due to global conditions and changes, so this was the first edition of the conference and we are currently working on preparing for the second edition of the conference with new topics and research.

What are the challenges faced in holding the conference?

The conference was supposed to be held in Istanbul, but due to the spread of the Corona pandemic, we consulted with everyone and found interest in holding the conference on time and suggested that we launch the conference to the virtual world, and our message to the participants was “The virtual world brings us together.” As a proactive plan, we recorded the videos of the presenters of the scientific papers in anticipation of any emergency, and they were actually used during the conference activities several times.

What were the opinions and impressions of the participants?

The participants praised the importance of the topics that were raised, and that the conference provided them with the opportunity to meet researchers and experts to provide a better life for orphans, care for them, and learn about their experiences.

The researchers and participants recommended repeating the organization of this conference, and turning it into a periodic developmental event, and a space devoted to exchanging practical experiences, guiding ideas, and future visions. He stressed the need to hold executive workshops, following this conference, in order to study and develop ways to activate the outcomes of the conference, circulate them, and work to adopt them with various organizations and stakeholders, work and service partners.

What did the scientific conference come out with and how will it move from theory to practice?

The conference presented practical outputs and recommendations rich in thought and knowledge that help organizations develop their work and launch a new vision in providing care to the orphan and his family, and presented to the donor and executing bodies ways, means and ideas to help them develop their work and the need to unite efforts to provide and create better opportunities to care for orphans and empower their families.
