June 23 is the International Day of Widows, which was celebrated and approved for the first time by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 and considered it an annual occasion to celebrate widows and recognize and appreciate their efforts and draw attention to their reality and in an effort to alleviate the suffering they face, and in order to provide aid to them to face poverty and to enjoy their social rights the basic.
International Widows Day is an opportunity to draw the attention of governments and private institutions to work towards achieving the full rights and recognition of neglected widows, by implementing programs and policies to end violence against widows and their children, alleviating poverty and education, and most importantly creating job opportunities for widows that can help them to Protect themselves and their families.
Orphan Care Union, on this occasion, renews its call to all organizations and institutions working in the humanitarian charitable field to work together and think with a broad horizon to get widows out of a state of need and the need to rely on themselves to obtain a financial resource by involving them in a commercial investment project by rehabilitating and teaching them professions and handicrafts that they acquire Including what suffices them, which has a positive psychological impact on them on the one hand, and relieves relief organizations on the other hand, as well as setting up training programs to develop their capabilities and their personality, to turn into an active woman in her community and play a leading role in it.
