The Orphans Care Federation held its General Assembly meeting on May 1, 2025, with representatives from member organizations participating. This assembly is convened every three years to evaluate achievements, review directions, and approve a new board to lead the next phase of the federation’s journey.
Members voted on several strategic decisions, most notably:

Geographic expansion of the federation and opening offices outside Turkey;

Expanding the board from five to seven members to diversify nationalities, specializations, and expertise, and to implement best governance practices ensuring transparency and continuity in serving orphan causes.
The election results included the following board members:
President: Dr. Ahmed Al-Aqbi
Vice President: Dr. Hayat Allah Ateed
Treasurer: Engineer Khaled Rasheed
Member: Ms. Cumana Habra
Member: Mr. Salah Al-Jarallah
Member: Mr. Munir Obeid
Member: Mr. Saad Al-Khatib
The oversight committee was also elected:
President: Dr. Abdulwasi Al-Wasii
Member: Mr. Imran Al-Madani
Member: Mr. Abad Al-Baali
Following the meeting, Ms. Cumana Habra was appointed Executive Director of the Orphans Care Federation.

Quality system project in orphan care: progress in system development was presented;

Global Covenant for Orphan Care: achievements since its launch, including the drafting of articles and expanding partnership bases in preparation for official adoption.
Supporting fields for the federation’s mission:

Training and capacity building: numerous specialized programs to improve the efficiency of orphan care workers;

Advocacy: the federation played an active role in raising the voice of orphans and defending their issues through well-planned, impactful advocacy campaigns;

Networking and partnerships: efforts were highlighted through organizing forums, international conferences, and online seminars discussing orphan issues globally, creating an important platform for meeting and exchanging expertise.
The Orphans Care Federation reaffirms through this meeting and its outcomes its renewed commitment to improving orphan care services, enhancing joint work, and building a more sustainable and just future for orphans worldwide.
